Who We Are

Initiative for Health and Social Development (IHSD) is a leading non-profit organization advancing health equity, child protection and social development in Nigeria. Established in 2012, IHSD delivers high-impact, community-led programs that improve the lives of vulnerable children, adolescents, young women and Key Populations affected by HIV and social disparities.

We implement comprehensive HIV prevention and treatment services, Adolescent and Youth SRH programs, OVC care and protection, GBV response and household economic strengthening across multiple states. With over 200 full-time staff and 300 volunteers, IHSD maintains deep community reach supported by a strong system of governance, monitoring and accountability.

IHSD has partnered with reputable donors including PEPFAR/CDC, CIHP, APIN, UMB, IHVN and AVAC to deliver large-scale results — helping communities access care, protection, and opportunities to thrive.

Governance & Accountability

IHSD is overseen by a Board of Trustees that provides strategic direction, fiduciary oversight and mission stewardship. Our Executive leadership ensures program quality, compliance with donor and national guidelines, and the highest standards of safeguarding and reporting — ensuring transparency, trust, and long-term sustainability.
